Interpreting ARDs at TSD with Confidence

Step into your next ARD meeting with clarity and confidence. This 3-hour interactive webinar is designed for ASL interpreters working in educational settings, especially those supporting Deaf and hard of hearing students at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) or similar institutions.
You’ll gain a working understanding of the special education laws that shape ARDs, build confidence in clarifying complex educational content, and learn how to engage more effectively as a member of the IEP team. The session includes hands-on practice with real-world scenarios, terminology used at TSD, and mock ARD meetings to strengthen your skills.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify and explain at least three key federal and state laws that govern the ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) process.
- Analyze at least two clarification strategies and two teaming techniques by discussing their application in small-group case studies.
- Demonstrate participation in at least one mock ARD meeting by role-playing a team member and applying appropriate communication strategies.
